Zeichner to receive honorary degree from Syracuse University

April 26, 2018
UW-Madison Professor Emeritus Ken Zeichner is receiving an honorary degree from Syracuse University.

Ken Zeichner
Zeichner was a faculty member in the School of Education for 33 years and served as an associate dean for nine years.

A news release from Syracuse University detailed Zeichner's accomplishments, research and his standing as a mentor, teacher, influential scholar and a strong advocate for K-12 public education while still offering insightful critique for improvement.

"Zeichner’s impactful teaching and writing has been felt by generations of teachers. ... As a proponent for teacher education that addresses pedagogical inequity, he is respected by teachers, teacher educators, researchers and policy makers," the news release said.

Zeichner will receive the degree at Syracuse University's 2018 Commencement on May 13, 2018.

Zeichner today is the Boeing Professor of Teacher Education at the University Washington in Seattle.
