UW alum Mavroulis named superintendent of Middleton-Cross Plains schools

UW-Madison alumnus George Mavroulis was recently named the next superintendent of Wisconsin’s Middleton-Cross Plains school district.

Mavroulis has worked in the district as an administrator in a number of roles since 1992. He served as assistant superintendent for educational services for 13 years before moving into the role of deputy superintendent last year.

He will begin his new post on July 1, replacing Don Johnson.

Mavroulis holds three degrees from UW-Madison’s School of Education. He earned his undergraduate degree in elementary education in 1984, a master’s from the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis in 1991 and a Ph.D. from that same department in 2012.
